broken confidence by lightsided-angel broken confidence by lightsided-angel

:bulletpink: Look, honestly- I'm not sure about everybody else but I love to say thank you to the people who fave my work. Especially if I'm online at the time and occasionally I fall behind and whatnot but that's not the point.

Faving to me is that you've spent the time to have a look, appreciate, and most of all LIKED their work. And it's a rather big compliment, for all the effort they've put in.

So when I go to someones page- and find their comment box flooded with "1 second ago, 20 seconds ago, 1 minute ago" etc etc with people all saying "Thanks for the fave!"

It only says one of two things to me-
One;
Wow! This person really likes a lot of peoples works, and it's nice to see someone so actively involved. //sarcasm//

or

Two;
this person is just fishing for pageviews. wow.
my work was probably quite meaningless and I've just added that one extra view to their page. Whoopee. Don't they feel special?

Now don't get me wrong:
I do know occasionally people will mass-fave. I know I do if I go through the love section or equivalent because I REALLY LIKE WHAT THEY'VE COME UP WITH. And the majority of the time I'll comment~

This is more directed towards those-
who just fave everything.
all. the. effin. time.
once in a blue moon-
sure, okay;
but not every single day D:

sigh.
sorry- rant over.

:bulletblack: Yus I know it could probably do with a little editing to tidy it up- but as it's 1:42 am- I'll fix it later.

same here.

when someone favorites my work, and i go to thank them, i make sure that they keep their spewing favorites to a minimum, and if i see that people thank them every few seconds,

then i don't say anything at all.

I couldn't care any less about page views.  I fave the work that I really like.  I just happen to like A LOT of work :D  I understand where you are coming from though.  Sometimes I don't respond to all the "Thank you" messages I get with words, but I to try to acknowledge them in some way.  Every artist here puts in too much time to be used in a popularity contest like some people do.  Those fishing for page views really should look elsewhere. <3

I didn't think someone would make this Stamp, but you did! I know this feeling. (like everyone who comments on a Stamp, lol) I actually don't like thanking people for Favorites. Some deviants specifically request that you NOT thank them. And then you have people like this who just fave for the pageviews. You usually get one of these when you get a fave in the first 10 seconds your art is online.

Most of the time, I go to the person's page not to thank them, but to see if they're one of these people or not! But recently I thank more people.

There are some people I even recognize for this. Like I get faves from a particular deviant I shall not name, but that I recognize, and I always find 90 other people got faves from them in the past 5 minutes...

I know how you feel.

A few times people have faved my work. And when I check the person's and notice plenty of other people within a few seconds saying "Thank you for the fave!" By that I grow a little suspicious, so I don't say anything to them at all.

I only favorite work I really like, but I don't put in work or journals, so usually that's what my page is filled with. So when people thank me for the fav's it kinda makes me look like a page hog, but I can't really fix that.

I only fav works that I really like, though I may bounce back and forth between deviations ^^'' Though, when someone favorites something of mine, I get super excited and go to thank them, but it just kinda loses value when you see people saying thanks only seconds apart from each other.

/run on sentence woo

I sometimes fav a whole lot of works one day but I do fav because I like the work.
What's the sense in pageviews anyways?

agreed, I don't like when people do that, DA should be a place for appreciating art, not being greedy.

DUDE, I FREAKING LOVE YOU. I just made a journal myself about this same exact topic but it got freaking deleted by my com just before I had a chance to publish it *sighgrumble* :iconfacepalmplz:

But seriously, I agree with you, WORD for WORD up there. :worship:

People who are victims of this sort of thing should SPREAD THIS around!!! Seriously, are Pageviews THAT goddang important?? Pageviews are PAGEVIEWS! -Unless your giving out kiribans or something, -but in all honesty it doesn't matter how popular you become, what matters most is how much YOU value YOUR own work! *wipes her sweaty brow* Phew! Glad I got that off my chest, -I thank you SO much for making this stamp. I'm faving this. FROM THE HEART.

I understand what you mean.
But me personally, I don't look at my Dev stacks from groups and things for days. Because I would rather have them pile up then look threw them every day. And when I have 3 hours on my hands, I look at the works and Mass Fav. I don't care about paige-views. I just like faving a lot of work at the same time. Its easier and I just don't have a lot of time, You know. So not all of us are page whores :P

Grate stamp, BTW :la:

I get that a lot, too!
Hm. I never actually considered that people might just want the pageviews..

That's kinda weird. Even if it's not for that reason, seeing "Thanks for the fave" over and over on their comments kinda makes your fave seem less honest, ya know? Like they could've just Random Deviation'd and clicked fave..

I don't take the time to say 'Thanks for the Fave' since I don't like receiving such comments myself, and I find it pointless to thank someone for simply liking something, not like they're trying to do me a favor. But I do like to go and see what other kinds of things that the favoriter had also favorited to see if I can see what exactly they liked about my work if I see the general kind of things they fave... and I do check their profile comments beforehand sometimes (especially when a lot of their favorites look random and/or cruddy) to to see if they were REALLY faving it cause they liked or not. So when I see too many "Thanks for the fave" in a short amount of time, I know it's just a pageview "whore" or whatever.
So I don't much like seeing that either, rather annoying.

Oh forgot to mention a lot of times I don't chat with people on their front page I'll do it through notes and journals rather than on their actual page. So that is why mine is full of "thanks for the fav" type comments and nothing else. Just another thing to think about.

I'll be honest I didn't read all the artists comments but just wanted to say I do fav lots of things all withing a matter of minutes. typically they are in the same catagory and I open in new tabs. It's faster and easier for me.
so don't sell yourself short! Sometimes it has nothing to do with pageviews. :)

Haha I put down that I do the same sometimes if they're in the same category XD I find it's more annoying when you've only just submitted it, and someone's just raiding the new items o.O

But I get what cha mean :la:

I agree. I don't understand why pageviews are so important. What really matters is if people like your work or not. >_>

Same for watches. It annoys me to no end for me to get a new watcher, then find that they don't even look at my stuff. They probably check "no" under all the sections (journals/deviations/scraps/etc) so they're basically not even really watching me. It's completely beaten the purpose of faves/watches.

See I'm faving this because I only fav work that deserves it.
I'm one of those people who doesn't give a crap if you visit my page or not.
Because I always comment. Just ignore those people hun. They just want they're
numbers to be bigger than everyone else's numbers.

I have never come across people faving for pageviews... infact I don't see how they matter on DA in such away but I tend to go on faving rampages sometimes and it is because I appreciate/love the artwork they have done. Somedays I don't fave at all.

Really? I see it all the time. Especially on people who have 50k+ pageviews. And faving something because you like it is different than faving because you want publicity and pageviews ;)
