Look, honestly- I'm not sure about everybody else but I love to say thank you to the people who fave my work. Especially if I'm online at the time and occasionally I fall behind and whatnot but that's not the point.
Faving to me is that you've spent the time to have a look, appreciate, and most of all LIKED their work. And it's a rather big compliment, for all the effort they've put in.
So when I go to someones page- and find their comment box flooded with "1 second ago, 20 seconds ago, 1 minute ago" etc etc with people all saying "Thanks for the fave!"
It only says one of two things to me- One; Wow! This person really likes a lot of peoples works, and it's nice to see someone so actively involved. //sarcasm//
or
Two; this person is just fishing for pageviews. wow. my work was probably quite meaningless and I've just added that one extra view to their page. Whoopee. Don't they feel special?
Now don't get me wrong: I do know occasionally people will mass-fave. I know I do if I go through the love section or equivalent because I REALLY LIKE WHAT THEY'VE COME UP WITH. And the majority of the time I'll comment~
This is more directed towards those- who just fave everything. all. the. effin. time. once in a blue moon- sure, okay; but not every single day D:
sigh. sorry- rant over.
Yus I know it could probably do with a little editing to tidy it up- but as it's 1:42 am- I'll fix it later.
I didn't think someone would make this Stamp, but you did! I know this feeling. (like everyone who comments on a Stamp, lol) I actually don't like thanking people for Favorites. Some deviants specifically request that you NOT thank them. And then you have people like this who just fave for the pageviews. You usually get one of these when you get a fave in the first 10 seconds your art is online.
Most of the time, I go to the person's page not to thank them, but to see if they're one of these people or not! But recently I thank more people.
There are some people I even recognize for this. Like I get faves from a particular deviant I shall not name, but that I recognize, and I always find 90 other people got faves from them in the past 5 minutes...
A few times people have faved my work. And when I check the person's and notice plenty of other people within a few seconds saying "Thank you for the fave!" By that I grow a little suspicious, so I don't say anything to them at all.
I only favorite work I really like, but I don't put in work or journals, so usually that's what my page is filled with. So when people thank me for the fav's it kinda makes me look like a page hog, but I can't really fix that.
I only fav works that I really like, though I may bounce back and forth between deviations ^^'' Though, when someone favorites something of mine, I get super excited and go to thank them, but it just kinda loses value when you see people saying thanks only seconds apart from each other.
DUDE, I FREAKING LOVE YOU. I just made a journal myself about this same exact topic but it got freaking deleted by my com just before I had a chance to publish it *sighgrumble*
But seriously, I agree with you, WORD for WORD up there.
People who are victims of this sort of thing should SPREAD THIS around!!! Seriously, are Pageviews THAT goddang important?? Pageviews are PAGEVIEWS! -Unless your giving out kiribans or something, -but in all honesty it doesn't matter how popular you become, what matters most is how much YOU value YOUR own work! *wipes her sweaty brow* Phew! Glad I got that off my chest, -I thank you SO much for making this stamp. I'm faving this. FROM THE HEART.
I understand what you mean. But me personally, I don't look at my Dev stacks from groups and things for days. Because I would rather have them pile up then look threw them every day. And when I have 3 hours on my hands, I look at the works and Mass Fav. I don't care about paige-views. I just like faving a lot of work at the same time. Its easier and I just don't have a lot of time, You know. So not all of us are page whores
I get that a lot, too! Hm. I never actually considered that people might just want the pageviews..
That's kinda weird. Even if it's not for that reason, seeing "Thanks for the fave" over and over on their comments kinda makes your fave seem less honest, ya know? Like they could've just Random Deviation'd and clicked fave..

What's the sense in pageviews anyways?
